Mertcan Çakır - Software Tech Lead for Industrial IoT & Embedded Systems

Mertcan Çakır - Software Tech Lead
01 - 04

From the device-

Five years turning raw sensor data into software people actually run.

-to the dashboard.

STM32 and ESP32 firmware, Modbus in the field, a live view your team opens every morning.

Built for drones. For clinics. For the floor.

Autonomous flight systems, medical monitoring, industrial energy - same discipline, different hardware.

60% less manual work.

Measured, not promised - engineering documents that used to take hours now generate themselves.

What I build

From sensor
to screen.

SVC.01

Process automation for manufacturers

Quotes, contracts and technical documents - generated, not typed. An internal platform that turns structured data into consistent documents. Over 60% less manual work at an electrical-device manufacturer, first version shipped in 30 days.

SVC.02

Industrial data collection & monitoring

Modbus, ESP32, STM32 → a dashboard on your own server. Meters, analyzers and controllers become live values, alarms, history and reports. Self-hosted: no vendor lock-in, your data stays yours.

SVC.03

Firmware & production test automation

Multi-channel ADC acquisition over SPI/DMA, end-of-line test fixtures, SCPI-automated calibration, and a release pipeline where every firmware build is signed before it ships.

Selected work

Four problems,
four devices.

CH.01

Context / Problem

A manufacturer of electrical measurement and protection devices. Engineering drawings, quotations and sales contracts were produced by hand, across three departments - hours lost every week, inconsistent documents, errors travelling from quote to production.

What I built / Result

A single internal platform (Python, React, MySQL) generating drawings, quotations and contracts from structured data, with role-based access and one management view. Result: over 60% less manual work, one shared source of truth.

CH.02

Context / Problem

A multi-channel measurement and protection device needing reliable acquisition, a network identity, and a release process nobody could tamper with.

What I built / Result

STM32 firmware acquiring channels from a 24-bit ΔΣ ADC over SPI/DMA; Ethernet + Modbus; power-quality calculations (THD/TDD, IEEE 519) in a small footprint; CI-built, SHA-256 + ECDSA-signed releases; automated SCPI calibration.

CH.03

Air-quality mapping, autonomous drone

PX4-based drone collecting CO₂, PM2.5, VOC, temperature and humidity; ESP8266 telemetry; ROS-based Python interface mapping distribution along the flight path. Autonomous takeoff/landing and LiDAR path planning over MAVLink.

CH.04

Smart mask - TEKNOFEST finalist

TÜBİTAK 1005 project, Gebze Technical University team - not my project, but I built its software: Arduino-based real-time monitoring of CO₂, O₂, temperature, humidity and heart rate with PWM airflow control, plus the Android BLE app for live data. Recognised by the Minister of Industry and Technology.

About

End to end.
Five years. Four domains.

I lead the software team at Wömner, a manufacturer of electrical measurement and protection devices, where I own everything from STM32 firmware to the internal web platforms. Before that I wrote autonomous flight software for PX4 drones and built a BLE-connected smart mask that reached the TEKNOFEST finals.

The through-line never changed: get reliable data out of hardware, and turn it into something people use.

  • 01 Outcomes with numbers. If I can't measure it, it doesn't go on a slide.
  • 02 Your infrastructure, your data. Self-hosted by default, no lock-in.
  • 03 Short cycles. A working version in weeks, then iterate.

Something I build
for no one but myself.

Home PC Hub - a Windows tray app that discovers TP-Link Tapo plugs and bulbs on the LAN and controls them locally: scenes, ambient lighting modes, schedules, global hotkeys. No cloud, no account, credentials stay on the PC.
